This is a plain, static information portal. It sets no advertising or analytics cookies of its own. This page explains exactly what is stored, what embedded third-party content can set, and how to control it all in your browser.

What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to save, so it can remember something between page loads — such as a setting you chose or that you have already dismissed a message.
Cookies we set
government.london is a signposting portal built as flat HTML, CSS and a small amount of JavaScript. It has no accounts, no login and no server that follows you. We do not set any advertising cookies and we do not use analytics cookies such as Google Analytics. There is no tracking pixel and no third-party advertising network on these pages.
Where the site remembers a choice — for example a preference you set on a page — it uses your browser's own local storage rather than a cookie. Anything stored that way stays on your device, is readable only by this site, and is never sent to us or to anyone else. You can clear it at any time by clearing site data in your browser. Because it never leaves your device, it does not identify you and is not used to build a profile.

No first-party cookies
Nothing here needs a cookie to work. Local storage is used only to remember your own on-page choices, and only on your device.
Third-party cookies
Some pages embed content that other organisations serve. When that content loads, those organisations can set their own cookies or storage under their own privacy and cookie policies — not ours. We name the ones we rely on honestly:
- Blitzortung lightning map — the live lightning map embedded on the Weather page is provided by the Blitzortung.org community network. Loading that live map connects to Blitzortung and may set its own cookies or storage. See blitzortung.org.
- Google Fonts — our typefaces are served from Google Fonts, which
connects to
fonts.googleapis.comandfonts.gstatic.comto deliver the font files. Google describes what it collects in its privacy policy.
We do not control these third parties and we cannot see anything they set. If you block third-party content in your browser, the fonts will fall back to a system typeface and the live lightning map will not load — the rest of the page still works.
How to control cookies
You are in charge. Every major browser lets you see, block and delete cookies and clear site data. As a general guide, open your browser's Settings, find the Privacy or Cookies and site data section, and choose to block or clear what you want. You can also browse in a private or incognito window, which discards cookies and storage when you close it.

Blocking can affect embedded features
If you block all cookies and third-party content, embedded features such as the live lightning map and the web fonts may not load. The core information on every page still works without them.
Note: This portal links to official services run by other bodies. Once you follow a link to TfL, GOV.UK, the NHS or a borough council, that site sets its own cookies under its own policy.
